Online CCDE Practical Training

Register Now

Registration is open for my CCDE Practice exam offering. This offering consists of six scenarios based on the current CCDE Technology Topics and CCDE Blueprint. The review sessions will begin with an overview of the CCDE Practical exam. The following items will be covered (without violating Cisco NDA, of course!):
  • An overview of the CCDE exam format
  • Descriptions of the major technology areas and scenario formats from the CCDE blueprint
  • A detailed discussion of the CCDE question types and strategies for successfully completing the exam

Within 24 hours of registration you will receive an email with six documents:
  • CCDE Practical Guidance - An overview of this offering, plus tips for the actual CCDE Practical exam
  • CCDE Practical Overview - A detailed look at the CCDE Practical exam format, technology areas and question types. This presentation is also reviewed during the recorded webinar that you will review.
  • Four CCDE practice exam scenarios that you will complete. Once you have completed the practice exams, you will email me and I will provide you access to the Webex review session recordings. The recordings are approximately eight hours (combined). During these recordings we will review each question from the practice exams. I will provide a technical explanation for selecting the correct answer, as well as guidance on how to find the required information within the scenario documentation.
We will cover a broad array of technical content from the current CCDE Blueprint. Topics will include:
  • IP Routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IS-IS)
  • Tunneling (MPLS, GRE, DMVPN)
  • Security (uRPF, Filtering, Encryption)
  • Quality of Service (Congestion Management, Congestion Avoidance, Packet Marking)
  • Network Management (Netflow, SNMP, IPFIX, out of band management)
  • IPv6
  • IP Multicast
The exams cover many network design challenges, balanced between Service Provider and Enterprise topics. To be clear, I do not cover all the technical content that candidates will face on the CCDE Practical exam. That would be impossible to do in six practice scenarios. The primary goals of this offering are:
  1. Provide an experience-based overview of the CCDE Practical exam
  2. Familiarize candidates with the depth and breadth of individual CCDE Pr actical scenarios
  3. Share my methods for determining the correct answer for each type of question on the exam
In addition to the recorded content, you will receive an invitation to my next online review session, scheduled for August 5th, 2017 at 8am ET. During this session we will review two additional practice exams, which will be provided to you via email on August 1st. If you cannot attend the session you will provided with access to the recording upon its completion.

The cost for this training is $995 USD. I am confident that my practice exam offering meets these goals. I encourage candidates to use the link below to register for this experience. Registrants for the self-paced practice exam offering are also invited to attend any future online review sessions, until they pass the CCDE Practical exam.

Frequently Asked Questions

Has this training helped other CCDEs pass the Practical exam? And who is Jeremy Filliben?

I passed the CCDE Practical Exam in February 2009 (CCDE #20090003), and began developing training materials in early 2010. I have been fortunate enough to assist over 100 successful CCDEs during their preparation for the practical exam. It has been said that the CCDE program is a test of experience, rather than a test of knowledge. Successful candidates must have extensive exposure to networking technologies and significant experience designing complex networks. The purpose of this class is twofold. First, it will expose candidates to unfamiliar network designs and technologies. We will cover all five CCDE content areas and many common network designs. Second, it will describe the types of questions candidates face on the CCDE practical exam and assist them in understanding how to approach this test. My goal is to remove the uncertainty that first time CCDE candidates face prior to taking the exam, and to clear up any confusion that previous candidates have after taking the exam.

What are the prerequisites?

I expect most participants to have passed the CCDE Written exam (352-001), and I highly recommend that everyone read the following books from the CCDE Practical Reading List:
  • Optimal Routing Design
  • Definitive MPLS Network Designs
  • BGP Design and Implementation
  • End-to-End QoS Network Design

Do you offer private CCDE classes?

If your organization would like a private CCDE class, please contact me via email. I have limited availability to offer additional training, but we may be able to find a suitable date to meet your needs.

Do I have access to additional resources after the class?

Of course! All students who attend my online training have unlimited access to all of my online resources until they pass the CCDE Practical exam. I run quarterly online review sessions and I offer additional practice exams at no charge to my students. If you would decide you would like to attend my five-day bootcamp class you will receive full credit for the online course fee of $995 USD toward the bootcamp cost, making your final cost $4000 USD.
